AKRON, O.H. (July 31, 2024) – The Akron Marathon Race Series, presented by Summa Health, gears up for the second event of its series—the highly anticipated 10th annual Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k! This event is set to take place on Aug. 10, 2024, at 6:30 a.m., and will bring nearly 2,500 participants from all over to enjoy a fantastic day of racing.
The Akron Marathon Race Series, organized by the nonprofit Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation, promotes health, fitness, and community spirit. Designed to complement a typical marathon training program, the series offers three distinct race experiences. Among them, the Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k stands out as one of the most popular events, celebrated for its iconic Akron setting with Goodyear serving as the venue host.

The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k kicks off with a lap around the historic Goodyear Test Track at the Akron Proving Grounds, weaving through Akron’s East End and Ellet neighborhoods, culminating with a triumphant finish at Goodyear’s Global Headquarters.
For optimal viewing, spectators can choose from the following options:
- Inside the test track for the start and at mile 1.
- Outside the test track, viewing participants at mile 1, then at mile 4.1, moving 0.3 miles north to the finish line.
- Finish Line for mile 1.3, walking 0.2 miles south to the traffic circle for mile 4, then returning to the finish line
The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k promises an unparalleled experience, featuring the celebrated Finisher Festival—a staple of this event. Participants can look forward to live music and a variety of food trucks, including the irresistible flavors of Swenson’s Food Trucks, Sandy Bottom Bowls, and the American Chuck Wagon. Showcased at the finish line are branded vehicles featuring Goodyear’s One Lap of America car, which impressively took first place in the 40th running of One Lap of America this year. Participants can capture photos with these vehicles and explore the Goodyear merchandise.
