Akron, OH (August 8, 2022) — The Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health is excited to announce the race series will continue with its second event, the Goodyear Half Marathon and 10k on Aug. 13, 2022.
During The Goodyear Half Marathon and 10k, participants will start with a lap around the Goodyear Test Track at the Akron Proving Grounds, and travel through Akron’s East End and Ellet neighborhoods, to cross the finish line under the skywalk at Goodyear’s Global Headquarters.
All Akron Marathon Race Series events end with their ever-popular Finisher Festivals, featuring a live band, local food favorites, and high-level swag—and The Goodyear Half Marathon & 10k will live up to those expectations with a variety of vendors and displays, including the Swenson’s Food Truck, Roll by Goodyear vehicle, and each runner receiving a premium short sleeve performance shirt and commemorative medal.
For this race, Packet Pick-Up will be held on Fri., Aug. 12, 2022, from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm at Hilton Garden Inn Akron, where all runners must pick up their race packets. There will be no race day packet pick-up offered.
The Goodyear Half Marathon and 10k is the second race in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health. As well as providing financial support for the race, this year’s event will be supported by 50 Summa Health volunteers manning the aid stations along the course as well as over 100 Goodyear associates volunteering on race day.
The final race in the Akron Marathon Race Series presented by Summa Health will be the 20th running of the FirstEnergy Akron Marathon, Half Marathon, and Team Relay — following the Blue Line through the streets of Akron on Sept. 24, 2022.
Additional 20th-year celebration activities include the Blue Jean Bash on Thurs., Sept. 22, 2022, at the John S. Knight Center. This will be the largest fundraising event for the Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation and will feature food stations, an open bar, a live auction, live entertainment, running celebrities, a walk down the 20-year history of the Blue line, and much more!
